Hernia Mesh Lawsuits

Surgical mesh is commonly used to strengthen a hernia repair, but thousands of patients have experienced devastating side effects and often needed a second surgery (a revision) to repair the damage. Some hernia mesh products, like Ethicon’s Physiomesh composite mesh implant, have even been recalled due to their higher revision rates compared to similar devices. Mesh lawyers are already filing lawsuits against various hernia mesh manufacturers. If you or a loved one suffered injuries or had to endure a second surgery to repair, replace or remove a surgical hernia mesh implant, please call our firm.

FDA Issues Safety Communication Regarding Surgical Mesh

Hernia Mesh LawsuitIn October 2014, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a safety communication regarding complications that had been reported with the use of surgical mesh to repair hernias. The complications reported to the FDA included: adverse reactions to the mesh, adhesions (when the loops of the intestines adhere to each other or the mesh), and injuries to nearby organs, nerves or blood vessels. The FDA stated that it was important for patients to report complications associated with hernia mesh to its MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program.
