Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Products Recalled by Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Company Due to Listeria

Chocolate Shoppe Cookie Dough ListeriaOn October 11, 2016, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Company out of Madison, WI issued a recall of select ice cream products that may be contaminated with Listeria. When a company announces a recall, market withdrawal, or safety alert, the FDA posts the company’s announcement as a public service.

Recalled Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Due to Listeria

The Chocolate Shoppe ice cream products recalled were made with a chocolate chip cookie dough ingredient that was supplied by Aspen Hills, Inc. The particular chocolate chip cookie dough ingredient supplied by Aspen Hills has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria. The recall affects 4,183, 3 gallon cartons and 5,296 pints of ice cream.

The Chocolate Shoppe branded selected ice cream products which have been recalled due to the potential for Listeria were distributed in the following states: AL, AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, In, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, OH, OK, PA, SC, TX, WA, WI and WV. Within these state, the recalled ice cream was shipped to and through various ice cream shops around the country, online outlets and a limited number of grocery stores.

Affected products can be identified by the code date listed on the bottom right hand corner of the product label on the 3 gallon cartons and by the code date listed on the bottom of each pint.

The recall includes the following products with code date provided:

Cookie Dough Ice Cream 12/29/17, 12/19/17, 12/13/17, 12/6/17, 11/26/17 & 11/15/17
Heaps of Love Ice Cream 12/29/17, 11/24/17 & 11/8/17
Peanut Butter Cookie Dough 12/1/17 & 11/18/17
Sticks & Stones 12/27/117, 12/2/17 & 11/10/17
Yippee Skippee 12/1/17

Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Co. Pints:
Cookie Dough Ice Cream 12/13/17, 12/9/17 & 11/26/17

The Baked Bear Brand 3 Gallon Cartons:
Cookie Dough 12/6/17, 11/26/17 & 11/15/17

At the time of the FDA alert there were no reported illnesses.
