Adams Farm Slaughterhouse Recalls Beef, Veal and Bison product due to possible E. Coli contamination

adams slaughter house e. coli listOn September 24, 2016 The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS) announced that Adams Farm Slaughterhouse LLC is recalling raw intact and non-intact Beef, Veal and Bison Products. Adams Farm Slaughterhouse LLC has issued a Class I Recall on these products due to the possibility of E. Coli contamination. A Class I recall poses a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.

Beef, Veal and Bison Recalled in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Eastern New York

On September 16, 2016 the FSIS was notified of an investigation of E. Coli illnesses. The FSIS, the Connecticut Department of Public Heath, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established a link between beef products and the E. coli illnesses. This is an ongoing investigation and further information will be provided once it becomes available.

Based on their investigation, seven patients have been identified, with five of those patients confirmed as consuming these products. The patients are from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Onset of illness dates range from June 27, 2016 to September 4, 2016. Both the FSIS and Adams Farm Slaughterhouse LLC are concerned that some of these products may have been purchased and stored in consumers’ freezers. The FDA alert provided a list of products subject to the recall. If you feel you purchased any of the recalled products, you’re urged not to eat them.

These products noted below were shipped to farmer’s markets, retail locations and restaurants in Massachusetts, Connecticut and eastern New York.
